I joined the RAF in December 1940. Did my "square bashing" at Bridgnorth. Then an ab initio radio course at S.E.Essex Techniocal College in Dagenham, Essex during the blitz. Posted to the Radio Mechanics course (which turned out to be radar) at No.2 Radio School, RAF Yatesbury.
My first posting to a station was to Hayscastle Cross, in Pembrokeshire.
Oversea draft formed up at Worth Matravers as 372 AMES. Travelled to North Africa on S.S. Strathallan, torpedoed en route.Later postings to 295 AMES, 397 AMES, An RSS in Naples and finally to Radar Section of 255 Squadron until demob in May 1946.If anyone recognises any of these units please contact me
