I was born in Surrey on 27 September 1938. My father, Hubert, served in the army throughout the War. From 1939 to 1945, I lived with my mother, Ella, and older sister, Daphne, in the Scottish county of Angus, in Arbroath and Kirriemuir. When my father came out of uniform my family was reunited in Surrey. In January 1954, enlisted in the regular army as a Boy Soldier and served in Aldershot, West Germany, Hong Kong, Korea, War Office, Hong Kong again, Singapore, West Berlin, Italy, Romania, Tidworth and Wilton before leaving the regulars in November 1978. I worked fulltime 1978-1993 with Barnardo鈥檚 Appeals, living in Carnoustie, Angus, and was in the Reserve (Army) 1978-1980 and Territorial Army 1980-1987. I was married twice, have four children and nine grandchildren and since 2005 have lived in Aviemore, Scottish Highlands.
