I have registered in order to be able to post my father's account of his WW2 experiences on the 大象传媒 web site. They are somewhat unusual: he started the war as a conscientious objector, working as a member of the Friends' Ambulance Unit in London during the Blitz. He later had a change of heart and joined the regular army where he was assigned to the 4th / 7th Royal Dragoon Guards as worked as a clerk. He landed at Normany on D-Day+1 but he and his fellow servicemen met very little resistance. He later helped establish a Brigade Rest Camp in Louvain, and later an Education Office to prepare soldiers for the return to civilian life. He was serious in his commitment to the war effort but, as will be clear from his account (which he wrote just after the war), he did not approve of everything he witnessed.
