I have been writing under the name kittyanne and have now changed to my real name at the time I was living in Jesmond during the war years- Margaret Coltman.
So far I have written an account called 'Early Memories: stone steps, an air-raid shelter and a rescue'.
In this piece I made a start on remembering the texture of daily life during the 1940s.
My mother was advised to move from Jesmond to the Roman town of Corbridge in Northumberland, some miles from Newcastle on Tyne to give birth to me in 1941.
I remember the kitten rescue described in my 'Early Memories' piece when I would be only about three years old. But I am very interested in children's early memories and how far what we seem to remember is partly to do with what we have been told about what happened.
