My name is Keith Wardell and I have been privately studying and researching different aspects of World War II for around forty years, since late childhood. I also have, particularly from a military equipment/aviation point of view, quite a knowledge of most twentieth century conflicts.I have tended to specialise in Bomber Command and its aircraft but I have studied widely many aspects of aviation history and aircraft of all manufacturing nations; I have worked for some thirty years for international airlines, starting with B.O.A.C.in 1969. I moved away from the Heathrow area in 2000.
I am very interested in military vehicles, particularly soft skinned types, and infantry weapons. Due to my family connection with the fire service I have also studied this subject, including its operations and equipment in WWII, both here (particularly in London)and in Germany; I am infact an honourary member fo a German Freiwillige Feuerwehr (Voluntary Fire Brigade) in Schleswig-Holstein.
For years now I have been a very keen model maker and have supplied models to museums and other establishments, more local to old bomber bases, of, shall I say, refreshment and with a past link to aircrew.
Due to family connections I have a special interest in 460 Sqn R.A.A.F. and its ops from Binbrook.
In my spare time I enjoy military re-enactment for the WWII period possessing the uniform of a junior officer in the Polish Parachute Brigade - Airborne Forces are, for personal reasons, very special to me.
For other hobbies I enjoy photography, painting and drawing and writing - and I am very lucky in having a wife, Carol, who also enjoys much of what I am involved in. Where do I/we find the time????
