i served from 1941/1948.Larkhill mar41.67th anti/tank regt 56London div [black cats]from 41 Ashford, MEF 42,Piaforce 10 army end 42/to feb 43,8th army from then to end of war in middle east, at Enfidaville.
Then after training near Tunis went on LST and landed at Salerno[Italy}on Sept 9th 43 as part of 5th army,after Ansio we had rest in Egypt,and then jioned 8th army till end of war in italy I came home after 4 years abroad and finished my time at Woolwich until 48.
I was 17 when I joined up for 12 years in the Royal Artillery in Feb 41, and was a sergt befor my 20th birthday in Dec 43.
I was trained as a gun layer on field guns but served most of my time as an anti/tank gunner on 6 pounders first as a no3 an then as a no 1 i/c.
