My name is Hans Muller, born 1933. I was 6 when the war reached the Low Countries, and 12 when the Allies marched into Amsterdam.
My wartime story you can read in my contribution, but what happened after the war?
Well, in 1946 - 47 I had massive kidney failure, due to the hunger oedema I suffered during the winter of 44 - 45. Fortunately, I made it to grow up a healthy 6'4" boy, became a civil engineer, did my military service in the Corps of Engineers (trained as a demolition and explosive ordnance expert...) and worked for 41 years for the same Engineering consultant.
Worked and lived in 23 countries, mainly in road construction and maintenance. Now retired, enjoying life with wife and grandchildren, and keep my 1942 BSA WDM20 despatch riders bike as a precious souvenir from that turbulent past!
