My uncle was Sgt Thomas Crane (1532034) son of Thomas and Maud Crane, of Belfast, Northern Ireland.

He was a Bomb Aimer in 101 Sqdn based at Ludford Magna. The Lancaster III, LM 462 in which he was a Bomb Aimer was shot down over Rebrechien, France while on ABC (Airborne Cigar) duties during a raid to Stuttgart on 28th July 1944. All the crew were KIA and all are buried in the Rebrechien Communal Cemetery.

The full crew list:

PILOT : Hyland, Peter Joseph, Pilot Officer, (177687)

Sergeant John Hodgson (flight engineer) (984920)
