I have just started to research my Grandfather Edmund Vinson Roy Davis (T/252216), and his time in the war.

He served as a driver in the 8th Army in the Royal Army Service Corp.

He signed up for the Territorial Army in 13th March 1941 and was first posted to 鈥淏鈥 Coy No 5 Training Bn. (Drivers), RASC. Which I believe his training was in Sutton in Ashfield.

And was then posted to No 12 Petrol Depot, which I still don't know that much about. Then on the 15th September 1941 he was shipped out to Egypt where I believe he was then posted to 1 Coy Base Depot with the 8th Army. His time here is still a bit sketchy at best.

Then in 10th September 1943 he was shipped off to Italy and posted to 236 Bridge Coy, possibly with the Royal Engineers, he was still driving at this time. Therefore we believe that he may have been either driving the lorries that carried the baileys bridges or still driving the petrol tankers that supported the bridge builders. Eventually leaving on the 3rd September 1945 for England.

If anyone can help me find out more about the sort of things my grand father was involved in please can they contact me. Thank you
