My name is Karen Rouse-Deane and I am a History graduate from the University of Lincoln & Humberside. I was born and still live in Kingston upon Hull. I did do some time in Military Service so I can relate to the stories on this web site.
I am a regular visitor to the 大象传媒 Open Centre in Queen's Court, Hull and I also listen to Radio Humberside. I heard the appeal asking for people to help with the WW2 People's War stories. I love history and the tales my parents told me over the years interested me.
Getting involved in this important project was a dream of mine to be able to listen to the stories the Older Generation have to tell if someone would be willing to sit and listen. I love to hear of the war tales of hardship and the helpfulness of the people to one another. Being born years after the war I could not relate to the long years of suffering my ancestors were put through.
The idea of getting these tales onto an Archive is a fantastic one. It leaves a legacy for future generations to be able to look back and understand more of what happened in the name of peace of the world now and in the future.
I am glad I got the opportunity to be involved.
