We are interested in WW2 because we grew up during those years. In some ways things were a lot easier in those days. Good and bad things were easily identified, we were on the side of good, the enemy were evil. There were a clear set of rules of behaviour. We were subject to discipline and taught self discipline. If we stepped out of line, punishment was swift and sometimes harsh but usually just. A sense of values and clear instructions as to what was right and what was wrong was instilled into us. We were lucky. How difficult it must be for a child today, with so many conflicting instructions, many of a political nature.
