The contributions I have put on the website are on behalf of my mother, Mrs Jean Mountney nee Radway. When I was small she would tell me all sorts of stories about what she did in the Land Army to try to get me to go to sleep at night! On 23 September 2004 she celebrated her 80th birthday and I collected these stories from her when I went down to Swindon to see her the following weekend.
I feel incredibly proud of what my mother did during WW2. Sadly I have very little information about what my father did because he died in 1981. All I know is that he - Eric George Mountney - was in the Royal Engineers, worked on a bomb disposal team during the London Blitz and looked after ambulance trains in Holland after D-Day.
