Like so many children of veterans, I know little of my father's service in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WW II.
And like so many of his peers, he was proud to volunteer. He enlisted from Cartwright, Manitoba, Canada and served overseas as an airplane mechanic. He was stationed in England, and the only stories he shared with us was taking the ferry to Ireland to visit relatives he had never met, and catching pneumonia riding home after demobbing from Montreal in an unheated railway car.
If anyone has served with Wm Verne Mooney or Dan Peynoo I would very much like to hear from them.
