I know that my dad was one of the first to land at Arnham in I think 1944. I am trying to trace the things that happened there. I know there was once a film made which showed this happening, from live coverage..His name was Frank Powles and his nick name was Sandy! I don't know why because he had dark hair...
He was a Lance Corporal and in one of the regiments under Field Marshall Montgomery, also he was sent to France at some point, but I don't really know much else.

He was born in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, and volunteered to join the Army at 18/19 years old.
