I have a strong interest in WW2 but not just from a family perspective. I feel that with few people still alive from that era, todays children will fail to understand the sacrifices made by those men, women and children over half a century ago.
As for my family, my great uncle Bert (now dead) was a glider pilot in Arnhem in 1944, and then a POW for 7 months. His brother Victor was killed on Dec 3rd 1943 nr Monte Cassino in Italy, he was with the 8th Btn London Fusiliers, which was part of 56th Division, The Black Cats? I would like to hear from anyone who has any stories relating to Victor Leslie Honey, or any memories at all of that area. I have received the battalion diaries for the time around his death but have no clear details of what happened.
I am currently putting a book together on the war in Italy, as I feel that it has been the forgotten front during WW2. If anyone has any stories or pictures that they would be happy for me to include in this project then please contact me.
