I joined the RAF as a Halton apprentice in March 1940, aged 16, and ended the war as a Warrent Officer, Flight Engineer, having carried out 45 operations with Bomber Command, 32 with the PathFinder Force.
A detailed account of this is contained in the first seven chapters of a book that I have written entitled, "The Best Twelve Years" by Peter Gould and published by Trafford Publishing.
