My mother was adopted as a baby and although she has known the name of her real mum for a number of years, we have only just discovered her father's name, hence my quest to find out as much as I can about him. Knowing that he served as a Royal Fusilier in the British Army during WW11 has given me a thirst for more knowledge of not only him but his regiment.
