My father was at Cassino and I would be very interested in talking with anyone who would have known him.
His name was Douglas Viner (Dougie) and he was in the Transport mob. He put his age on from 17 to 18 and took his dad there to back him up at the signing on post.
He went to North Africa first and he told me he was there with a lot of blokes had had been through the lot and they sort of made him feel at ease by taking him to a bar in Egypt where they commenced to cause some havic and were told off by General Alex in person.
He went on to Cassino and I would very much like to speak to someone who knew him - a long shot!
