Hello to everybody!
I am a 41 year old freelance historian, specialising in the aerial side of WW2. As a relative youngster, I have no direct experience of the war, but the period has always held a life long fascination for me. I geuss it was my interest in the 'planes, aircrews, and battles of the period that led, in 1984, to me learning to fly myself, and I still maintain my pilot's licence 20 years on. Next month, "Aeroplane" magazine will be publishing the first part of a two-part biography I have written on Canadian fighter pilot W/Cdr EFJ "Jack" Charles; others are in the pipeline. I have included on this site a story I wrote some years ago on a wonderfuly chirpy, interesting man who flew night fighters in WW2. I called it "One Pilot's War".I tried to sell this to "Aeroplane" magazine, but unfortunately my timing was all wrong: they had just accepted a whole series of articles from another author which covered pretty much the same ground! Nonetheless, I think it is still a story worthy of reading, and I promised it's subject that, one way or another, I would ensure it had a wide readership. I hope whoever of you reads it, enjoys it! And if you are an ex-member of aircrew (in whatever capacity), and have an interesting story to tell, why not share it with me, and I can tell it to the world for you....
I can be reached on acotton294@btinternet.com, or gregholden@hotmail.com. I hope to hear from someone soon....Take care all. Adam.
