My parents were the war generation. My father volunteered as he wanted to choose which service in which to serve. He fought his war aboard ships in the Royal Navy. Although he was torpedoed twice and for the years following the war suffered from ear problems due to the oil which entered his ears,he said he had a good war.He met my mother in Liverpool during the war and fell in love with her.He always said it was far more frightening to be in the blitz in Liverpool than on board ship in a sea battle. He served mainly in convoys but he also went to the far east and brought many of the Japanese prisoners of war home at the end of the war.
