Born in Seaforth, Liverpool 1935. Lived then in Hereford road, within sight of Gladstone dock. Went to school at Christ Church Boys in Melrose Road, Waterloo. Later in 1948 attended Bootle Technical school. Since then travelled all over the UK, now retired offshore
The War, especially the Liverpool Blitz, was good fun when I was 5 years old, watching air raids over the City and docks, a treat not to be missed. Lots of aircraft ours and theirs, fires, soldiers,AA guns in the street, and fire engines everywhere. Super! We even had a Big kid who could identify whether the shrapnel found in the street was ours or theirs!!
Big events at the time -- A parachute mine blowing me off my position standing on my Dads motorbike in our back yard, and the good ship Malakand blowing up in the docks.
