I am interested in the 2nd WW as my father William Francis Charles Wills known as "Bill", served as a sergeant in the army-Devonshire Regiment--86th Anti-Tank Regiment--340 Battery.
I am interested in the route my father took across Europe, I know he landed on Juno beach on D-day plus one and fought arround Caen before fighting for the liberation of s'Hertogenbosch in October 1944, eventually being garrisoned in Hamburg in 1945.
It has been difficult to obtain details because initially the guns were pulled before being mounted on sherman tank bases and becoming self propelled, they were then sent where their support was required. As my father died when I was young I am interested in where he fought and the route he took.
I would be interested in hearing from anybody who knew or served with him and has any details of where he fought.
