My parents and grandparents, aunts, uncles and wider family all played their part in WW2.
My Father fought in North Africa and my Mother was a land army girl. She spent some time working at the Avro factory at Yeadon, and some time working on the land for the Johnson family of Johnson and Johnson fame.
My Grandfather fought in both world wars, and my Grandmother spent some time in the munitions factory.
Our family also suffered losses as a direct result of the war. One uncle being killed by a sniper's bullet and my Father's cousin went down with his ship in 1941.
I'm lucky enough to have photographs of my Father and Mother and Grandfather, Uncles and great Uncles taken during WW2, as well as many photographs of my Father's pals and fellow soldiers though sadly I don't know their names.
I've always been interested in listening to stories of the war and since I took up my family history research in the late 1990s I have been amazed at how much of my personal family history has been tied up with it.
I have a number of stories which I will submit to the site, some just snippets and anecdotes, but others which might have a wider significance.
