Voting upstairs

Written by Sarah Scriven on 25 November 2008 at 10:24

People who vote at Springfield Stadium in Jersey are being moved upstairs after the room they used last time was converted into a gym.

But the authorities say the new room is better as a polling station than the Lower Hall downstairs

Voters in St Helier Number Two District have seven candidates to chose from for TWO seats in tomorrow's elections for Deputy.

Last month when they voted in the elections for Senator they used the Lower Hall at Springfield Stadium.

But since then the room's been converted into an extension to the existing gym and now houses exercise machines and equipment.

It's argued the Blue Room upstairs is better as a polling station as it's suited to a one-way system for voters .

It's close to stairs and a lift and the organisers say it'll be well signposted.

The polls for Deputy open across the island at eight o'clock tomorrow morning.
