Rewind visits the TV archives for fashion features on Look North (Thursday 9听 June 2005) including the micro mini-skirt and New Romantics in Leeds. Some of the memories might be quite painful as we take a look back at what we used to wear from the mini-skirt to platform shoes, the perm to the padded shoulders. We ought to warn you, you might find some of these pictures upsetting and the film probably should carry a fashion-police warning.
| 1960s: A mini-skirt in Leeds |
Watch the video and you'll see some images from the swinging sixties, it's 1969 and there is film of a woman at a secretarial college in Leeds saying a shapely leg and a mini skirt could help a female job hunter. We also have a Look North news story from the same year, when British Rail in York banned the micro mini skirt. And then in the 1980s the New Romantic look hit the streets, you can thrill to footage of the trend as it looked at the launch of a new shop in the city.
