The Brahan Seer: The Gaelic Nostradamus |

The Brahan Seer, or Coinneach Odhar, is reputed to have predicted the invention of the television, the north sea oil industry as well as more local events such as the building of Caledonian canal in Inverness and the battle of Culloden:

"Oh! Drumossie, thy bleak moor shall, ere many generations have passed away, be stained with the best blood of the Highlands. Glad am I that I will not see the day, for it will be a fearful period; heads will be lopped off by the score, and no mercy shall be shown or quarter given on either side."
According to folklore, the Brahan Seer was living in Scotland during the 17th Century. However, little is known of the man behind the myth, or even if he ever really existed.
