Your Story: Jack's Grandma

She started working at the end of the war aged 16.She continued to work until she was 27. She worked in an office of about eight people, two of which were typists. The hours were 9am to 4:30pm with an hour lunch break. She travelled about an hour and a half and went by bus and occasionally on bike. Every day she would wait in a queue to get cigarettes for a friend who gave her one for waiting. She never touched alcohol at the time. For pleasure she used to go to the Oxford Galleries to dance which was where she met her husband who she later married. That was just over fifty years ago.
