'And Action!' How media and behavioural insights can address the climate crisis

Watch our climate action event - co-hosted with USAID - online

We were pleased to co-host with USAID on 24 April 2023 an event examining the important role of media and behavioural insights for supporting climate action.

This hybrid event is available to watch back on .

The recent IPCC report issued another Code Red warning for humanity. Climate change is outpacing humanity’s ability to adapt. We need to dramatically reduce emissions and improve resilience this decade, and meeting this challenge will require all of the tools in the toolbox.

An often overlooked tool is the power of media and behavioural insights to drive individual action, build coalitions, and mobilise political support for the urgent changes this crisis demands.

This event explored the ways in which media and behaviour change communication can support climate action on multiple fronts.

Both and ´óÏó´«Ã½ Media Action recognise the critical role that media can play in helping people to make informed decisions, shift behaviour and take action on climate change.

´óÏó´«Ã½ Media Action is a leader in using media and a wide variety of communication tools to reduce risk and build resilience by equipping people with practical information and platforms that support decision-making within households and communities –  inspiring people to engage in discussion about what can be done about environmental and climate issues, and to encourage accountability among leaders.

USAID is partnering with more than 60 countries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve resilience to climate impacts. USAID focuses on helping partner countries speed up their transition to renewable energy, improve energy efficiency, conserve tropical forests like the Amazon rainforest and Congo basin, and improve vulnerable communities’ resilience to climate shocks and stresses.
