A visit can take anywhere between a couple of hours and a whole day.

There is a great view of the whole reserve from the top of the Peacock Tower.

Facilities:Visitor centre. Water's Edge cafe. Shop. Toilets. Education events. Heated bird-watching observatory in main visitor centre.
Access:

There is a network of footpaths around the reserve which makes for an easy circular walk for all ages.

Disabled access: Most paths are easily accessible by wheelchair. The paths have level access and are hard-surfaced with tarmac on the main routes (compacted gravel on minor paths).


There are low-level viewing windows and level access to the ground floor bird hides.

There is lift access to the upper floors of the visitor centre, the observatory and the Peacock Tower hide.


Free wheelchair loan. Hearing loops in admission area and theatre.

Trained assistance dogs allowed (i.e. Guide Dogs).

Getting there:

The London Wetlands Centre is located in Barnes about 1.5km from Putney Bridge and 0.75km from Hammersmith Bridge.

By car: Drive out towards Hammersmith from London and then look for signs to Barnes. Follow the brown signs to the London Wetlands Centre.

By bus: Take the 283 (the Duck Bus) from Hammersmith Bus Station - the bus stops takes about 12 minutes and stops immediately outside the London Wetlands visitor centre. Alternatively, take the 33, 72, or 209 bus and alight at the Red Lion pub.

By Tube: Hammersmith Tube and then take the 283 (the Duck Bus) which stops immediately outside the visitor centre.

Free car parking.

Wildlife code:Don't feed the birds. Keep to the reserve's network of paths. Keep quiet in the wild area of the reserve.
Opening times:

Open daily: Summer (25 March to 27 October) - 9.30am to 6pm. Winter (1 January to 24 March) - 9.30am to 5pm.

Early closing on 24 December.


Late night opening Thursday evenings from 31 May to 20 September - centre closes at dusk.

Charges:Adults 拢7.95; Concessions 拢6; Children 拢4.50; Family ticket 拢19.95.
