Time has run out for one not-so-lucky lottery winner to claim their 拢1,000,000 prize.

The winning EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker ticket was bought in Rhondda Cynon Taf for the draw on 16 April.

Last month, the National Lottery appealed for the owner of winning code - XMXB 32530 - to get in touch by 13 October, but they never did.

Andy Carter, of the National Lottery, said the would-be-winner has now "sadly missed out on this substantial amount of money".

"Unfortunately, I can confirm that the ticket-holder did not come forward within the deadline to claim their prize," said Mr Carter, the charity's senior winners鈥 advisor.

"However, the money will now add to the 拢30M raised each week for National Lottery-funded projects."

What happens when a lottery ticket is unclaimed?

With every National Lottery draw, a winning player has 180 days to claim their prize, whether is it 拢1 or 拢100,000,000.

After this point, any unclaimed prizes add to the 拢30m raised each week for lottery funded projects.

Some projects within Rhondda Cynon Taf that have received recent funding include the Rhondda Hearing Impaired Support Group - awarded 拢18,000 in May.

In March, 拢15,000 was awarded to charity Striking Attitudes, to help organise activities for older people experiencing loneliness and isolation.

Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus charity Shine was awarded 拢350,000 in September 2023 to continue their work supporting young people in Wales.
