A second man has been arrested by police investigating the murder of Tristan Sherry in a restaurant in Dublin on Christmas Eve.

He is being detained at a station in the west of the city, gardaí (Irish police) said.

Mr Sherry died after he was assaulted during a shooting and stabbing incident at Browne's Steakhouse on Main Street in Blanchardstown.

Another man, aged in his 40s, was shot during the incident. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Both victims are known to gardaí for their involvement in organised crime, according to Irish broadcaster RTÉ.

Wednesday's arrest is the second in the investigation.

A 22-year-old man appeared in court in Dublin on December 30 charged with the murder of Mr Sherry.
