In pictures: Banksy work in LA
A series of stencils, believed to be by British graffiti artist Banksy, have been appearing in Los Angeles ahead of next week's Academy Awards.
The street artist's first film, Exit Through the Gift Shop, has been nominated for best documentary at this year's ceremony.
US fans of the artist have been busy photographing his works, which include a stencil of a dog urinating.
This work was removed from this Hollywood advertising hoarding within hours of it appearing, and the space is now blank.
This painting in Los Angeles looks similar to a Banksy work, but was signed by Mr Brainwash - tagging name of amateur film-maker Thierry Guetta - the subject of Banksy's documentary.
A giant water tank off the Pacific Coast Highway tagged with the phrase 'This looks a bit like an elephant' was one of the later works to appear around town.
The artist did not appear with his fellow documentary feature nominees at a special event at the Academy's headquarters on Wednesday.
The question Hollywood is asking is whether Banksy will blow his cover and turn up to the ceremony on Oscars night. He has apparently been told by organisers that he cannot wear a disguise.
