In pictures: Scottish floods

Heavy rainfall has led to disruption across Scotland with some roads being badly flooded, such as this one in West Kilbride. Rail and ferry services have also been affected.

The Water of Ruchill in Perthshire has burst its banks, causing major flooding in Comrie. Some 200 people are said to be at risk from the flooding.

The Rest and Be Thankful section of the A83 in Argyll is shut after a landslip, with a long diversion in place. An estimated 100-150 tons of debris is spread across the road and these lorries are waiting to clear it away.

Flooding has threatened properties in many places. Here, workmen are seen putting down sandbags in West Kilbride.

Properties in Aberfoyle have also been flooded. The excess water has led to the main street being completely closed in both directions, while the school has been closed.

Rescue workers in Aberfoyle had to use forms of transport not usually seen on village streets, after several properties were flooded.

Car owners were asked to remove their vehicles from car parks at the Whitesands area in Dumfries, ahead of expected flooding which occurred early in the afternoon.

There has been much disruption in Dumfries and Galloway, with several roads closed. The flooding which can be seen here is in Newton Stewart, where the road across the Cree Bridge was closed after the river burst its banks.
