    Hundreds of motorists got caught up in delays this morning following the closure of Belgrave Middleway in central Birmingham.

    The route is closed in both directions between Bristol Road and Haden Circus while emergency services and collision reconstruction experts investigate.

    The dead man, who has not been named, was hit by a dark-coloured Ford Mondeo just after 23:40 last night.

    West Midlands Police said the pursuit had been started by response officers and then continued by specialist traffic police.

    It was abandoned when the car went through a red light shortly before the pedestrian was struck, the force said.

    A cat reported missing in Spain has turned up in Birmingham.

    A man from Acocks Green found the feline in his garden - he's been calling her Slinky.

    When the cat was taken to the vet and its microchip checked, it emerged she had been reported missing a month ago in mainland Europe. 

    It's not yet known how the cat ended up in the West Midlands.

    'Slinky' is currently staying with the man who found her. He says it's a total mystery how she arrived here.

  9. Pedestrian killed during police pursuitpublished at 09:15 British Summer Time 27 March 2017

    A man has died after being hit by a car which was being pursued by police in Birmingham last night.

    it was following a dark coloured Ford Mondeo from Short Heath Road in Erdington to the westbound Belgrave Middleway after it failed to stop for officers.

    A 45-year-old man was hit and died at the scene.

    The force says it is still searching for the driver.

  11. Parliament attack: Man arrested in Birminghampublished at 08:34 British Summer Time 27 March 2017

     in which four people were killed.

    The Met Police said the 30-year-old was held on Sunday on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts.

    Another man, 58, arrested in Birmingham on Thursday, remains in custody.

    Khalid Masood, 52, killed three people when he drove a car into pedestrians last Wednesday. He then fatally stabbed a policeman before police shot him dead.

    Last Wednesday, officers stormed a second-floor flat above shops on Hagley Road in Ladywood, Birmingham, following the attack in the English capital.
