    Today marks the start of a week-long focus by ´óÏó´«Ã½ West on a behind the scenes look at Avon and Somerset Police.

    #onthebeat will see our reporters following how the force uses data analysis and visualisation software to identify patterns that could help them solve crimes and predict where criminals may be operating.

    The technology also helps with planning resources and deploying officers to areas of concern.

    Each day we will bring you live statistics from police HQ in Portishead showing what intelligence they are receiving so officers can respond to call-outs.

    It comes as the most recent figures reveal violent crime recorded by police in England Wales is up 19%.
