    On this day in 1683, the first public museum, the Ashmolean, was opened by Elias Ashmole in Oxford.

    Exhibits included stuffed animals and a dodo, back when people hadn't seen a live dodo in decades.

    Still haven't seen one have we?

    The Ashmolean has been marking the 400th anniversary of the birth of its founder this year .

    The fire at Southampton's SeaCity Museum is now out.

    Fire crews are still investigating the cause of the blaze which is thought to have started when a wooden model caught fire shortly before 12:30 BST.

    Staff and visitors were evacuated from the attraction which is dedicated to the city's maritime heritage including the story of the Titanic.

    Fire crews are trying to clear smoke from the SeaCity Museum in Southampton after a wooden model caught alight earlier.

    A number of people have been evacuated from the attraction.

    We're expecting an update from the museum shortly.

    Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service says a wooden model has caught fire at the SeaCity Museum in Southampton.

    Crews were called to the attraction at 12:25 BST. The service said the fire is on the first floor of the building.

    A cordon remains in place at the entrance.

    The £15m museum opened in April 2012 and is dedicated to Southampton's maritime heritage and the Titanic which made its ill-fated voyage from the city in 1912.

    The Heritage Lottery Fund awarded a £4.9m grant towards the cost of the museum - the rest of the £15m came from the city council.

    A number of people have been evacuated from the building and crews have set up a small cordon.

    Class A drugs and a machete were seized by police after 100 officers raided 12 addresses in Reading.

    Nine men aged between 18 and 53 were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs on Tuesday, police said.

    The operation was "the result of a short, pro-active investigation", Thames Valley Police said.

    Det Ch Insp Jim Upton said it was part of its ongoing "Stronghold" campaign aimed at tackling organised crime.

    A large tree, brought down in high winds overnight, is blocking both carriageways of the A339 near Newbury.

    It has closed the road at Greenham Common, causing long delays for thousands of motorists during this morning's rush hour.

    West Berkshire council said it was working with the Highways Agency to remove the tree.

    Drivers are being asked to avoid the area.

    Liverpool are yet to formally approach Saints to ask for permission to speak to Van Dijk.

    The Reds refused to comment on renewed speculation on Monday, while Southampton are adamant they do not need to sell the defender.

    A regional food redistribution centre in Didcot has been allocated £35,000 to buy essential equipment to help people throughout the Thames Valley.

    The funding has come from UK charity FareShare and will go towards a forklift truck, a new chiller and depot racking to double the storage capacity of the warehouse.

    It means it will supply additional food to more than 85 local charities.

    Paul Smith, general manager for the south central area, said: "We hope that this new equipment will really make a difference to FareShare’s operations in Didcot, and we look forward to helping them even more throughout the next six years."

    Saints are in no mood to sell Van Dijk this summer, especially to Liverpool, who repeatedly lure Saints players to Anfield with aggressive tactics.

    The Dutch international has five years left on a new contract he signed last summer.

    Whilst that may ultimately count for nothing when silly money is banded about, it does put Saints in a position to either say no to a move this summer - like they did with Schneiderlin and Wanyama - or to make any suitor pay through the nose and more!

    Among the families marking the one-minute silence in Southampton were Emma Sibley, 27, and Karl Hucker, 32, alongside their young daughter.

    Ms Sibley said: "We're here just to remember and pay respect to the families and loved ones.

    "It's horrible we have to do it, it's not right, but it's just out of respect. When you have little ones of your own it makes you think."

    Car bumpers scraped on Cowes floating bridge

    Businesses should be compensated for their losses during the suspension of the Isle of Wight's new "floating bridge",

    The chain ferry service was suspended after cars scraped their bumpers while disembarking and stranded passengers waded through water when it broke down on its first weekend in operation.

    It has now been cleared for use and is set to resume service on Wednesday.

    East Cowes shop owner said Angie Booth said business had been "stagnant".
