The government has announced it is activating its emergency funding scheme to help areas hit by Storm Dennis.
Ministers have agreed to allow a number of affected local councils to apply for funding under the Bellwin scheme.
The scheme allows councils to apply for 100% of the non-insurable costs they incur to deal with storm damage.
The areas approved include in Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, Worcestershire and Herefordshire.

Parts of the A52 in Nottinghamshire have been closed due to flooding.
The busy road is closed in both directions from Grantham to Saxondale Island, in Saxondale.
Police said Kelham Bridge is also closed because of "unsafe driving conditions".

Rushcliffe Borough Council has as a place of safety for those affected by flooding.
The authority said it had identified those who required alternative accommodation and assisted them accordingly.

These rescue ponies in Mountsorrel are running out of dry land.
Their owner Sharon Bunney said the flooding has left them stranded in a small area of their field, but they are being well looked after with hay and fresh water.
She's been using the land for 10 years and is used to it flooding but said this winter has been "exceptionally bad".

The Met Office weather warning for rain in the East Midlands remains in place until 21:00 on Sunday.
Tonight it will be clear with just a few showers expected but they could still cause problems where the ground is already saturated.
I'll be colder than last night with a minimum temperature of 3°C (37°F)
Tomorrow will have sunny intervals and a few blustery showers. These could be locally heavy with a risk of hail and the odd rumble of thunder.

Leicestershire Police say the following roads are flooded:
Inspector Graeme Baxter said: “We have received more than 40 calls during the past 24 hours in relation to flooding and traffic issues regarding Storm Dennis."
He said officers were working with partner agencies, and urged people not to go into areas where it might seem unsafe due to flood water.

Leicestershire Police are warning of flooding on Rearsby Road between Rearsby and Thrussington.
Officers on Twitter said not to drive through the water - not even in a 4x4.

Loughborough's MP says the flooding in Sileby is "the worst it's been for a long time".
Jane Hunt went to the village earlier to see the damage for herself.
Some residents are blaming lack of upkeep of the waterways.
One person said: "It's all neglect - the dykes don't get dug out, the rivers don't get dredged. It seems to happen more frequently now."
Ms Hunt said she had a meeting with local authorities and emergency services about the issue just a few weeks ago.
The Conservative MP said there were plans to clear silt from the brook in the village at the end of the month.
She said Leicestershire County Council has sidelined £550,000 to investigate flooding problems in the area, and she is "very keen" to find out what they discover.
Several Trent Barton bus routes have been affected by the flood waters on roads across the region.
