    A fisherman with a broken leg has been rescued by a crew from the RNLI in Skegness.

    The UK Coastguard requested the launch of the stations Shannon class all-weather lifeboat shortly after midnight along with its own rescue helicopter to assist in evacuating the injured man from the 40ft vessel.

    The boat, with three people on board, was operating in the Wash when an incident on board left the skipper with a broken leg.

    He was taken to Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital for treatment.

    The father of a Red Arrows pilot who died when his ejection seat activated during pre-flight checks has been speaking .

    Flt Lt Sean Cunningham, 35, was ejected while conducting pre-flight safety checks at RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire in 2011.

    The parachute on the seat did not then deploy and the airman was fatally injured.

    Martin-Baker Aircraft Ltd previously admitted to breaching safety laws at Lincoln Crown Court and has now been fined £1.1m.

    35-year-old Flight Lieutenant Sean Cunningham died in 2011 when his ejection seat activated during pre-flight checks at RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire.

    Martin-Baker Aircraft Company Limited admitted a breach of health and safety legislation and were sentenced today in Lincoln.
