The ´óÏó´«Ã½'s Harry Low is in Tampa. As day breaks in Tampa, there is hardly a person to be found walking the streets. The only vehicles on the road are police cars.

Downtown seems to have escaped the worst of it. Palm tress are still standing and there is only a limited amount of debris on the ground.

The big concern here is the storm surge which is expected later - officials have repeatedly warned Floridians about the risk to life that surges can present.

With the curfew lifting at 08:00 (13:00 BST), there will be plenty of worried locals keen to check out of their hotels and motels and return to their homes to assess the overnight damage.

As the sun attempts to break out from behind the clouds, people here will be hoping for brighter prospects as a truncated start to the working week gets under way.
