1952: Elizabeth becomes Queen
The Queen has been visiting east London as part of her Diamond Jubilee tour. She received a rapturous welcome from thousands of residents in Valentine's Park in Redbridge.
Union flags were handed out among the crowd who had come to see the Queen.
People of all ages waved union flags as they welcomed the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.
When the royals arrived, they were greeted with a huge cheer and the Queen and duke walked along a path to Valentine Mansion in Ilford, stopping briefly to meet some of the well-wishers.
The royal couple's day involved meeting people from throughout London.
Some of those in the crowd appeared less excited than others.
Whilst at Redbridge's historic Valentines Mansion in Ilford, the royal couple saw artwork at the London Pride art and design festival.
Thousands of residents waited patiently to catch a glimpse of the royal couple.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, supported by other members of the Royal Family, are travelling as widely as possible across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in 2012 to mark the Diamond Jubilee.
