Late school closures 'can cause chaos'
Education Secretary Mike Russell has told council education bosses they must decide as early as possible if they are going to shut down all schools in their area because of wintry weather.
He said blanket decisions should be an absolute last resort and head teachers were best placed to decide whether pupils should stay at home.
Mr Russell also told 大象传媒 Radio's Good Morning Scotland programme that late decisions could cause "absolute chaos".
The programme also heard how one school in East Renfrewshire has managed to remain open despite the conditions.
