Winner New Comedy Awards 2005
Andrew Lawrence
Andrew has been described as 'a wild redhead with the beast's own deep voice that says all the things no-one says but everyone thinks' and he's causing a stir on the stand-up circuit.
听
He had been performing around the UK for just over a year before he won the New Talent award and he hasn't stopped since.
听
Andrew first got into comedy by performing stand-up during a regular comedy night at St Andrew's University in Scotland. After only half a dozen or so shows he was runner up in the national 'So You Think You're Funny' competition, which became his springboard onto the major circuits.

Andrew's win in the New Talent scheme in 2004 changed his career dramatically and since then he has been a regular at all the major comedy venues. It was his very different, spellbinding style which really impressed the judges.

I wrote notes about everyone else, Marcus (Brigstocke - previous scheme winner) made notes about everyone else, but neither of us had made notes of Andrew's performance which is telling of his spellbinding and totally mesmerising performance. To have that kind of command over the room at his age is astonishing.

Andrew is now firmly carving himself out a place as a regular stand-up on the British comedy scene and has been asked to record a set for Paramount's 'World Stands Up'.
I have never regretted going into stand-up - it's given me a lot of enjoyable experiences and I have met some lovely people.
