Fakenham

Fakenham high streetFakenham is situated in North Norfolk, midway between King's Lynn and Cromer and has a population of more than 7,000 people.

Fakenham's major industry in the 19th and 20th centuries was printing, but the major printworks (Cox and Wyman) closed in the 1970s. Nevertheless, there are still more than ten small printing firms in industrial premises around and near the town.

One of the main attractions of Fakenham is its National Hunt Racecourse. This first meeting in 1905 attracted 37 runners and has since entertained Queen Elizabeth who visited the racecourse in January 2000, making the short trip from Sandringham.
