This live webcam shows the atrium area of The Forum
in Norwich with the church of St Peter Mancroft viewed in the background.
Norwich's 拢65m development, The Forum was
officially opened by the Queen in July 2002.
It took two years, more than 1,500 lorry loads
of concrete and nearly half a million bricks to create the striking
building in the heart of the city.
Boasting a Learning Shop and Tourist Information
centre, The Forum's atrium hosts concerts, jazz brunches and stand-up
nights from the Comedy Store.
In June 2003, it also became home to the headquarters
of 大象传媒 East. For the first time 大象传媒 New Media, Radio and Television
production in the region will come together under one roof.
One of the building's most significant features
is the city's long-awaited Millennium library. Seven
years ago 170,000 books were lost when a blaze destroyed Norwich's
previous library.
The new library houses more than 600,000 items
including books, videos and CDs. The public will also have access
to 85 computers.
Discovering
Origins |
The Forum is also home to the Origins visitor attraction
which explores the history of Norwich and Norfolk, including the
people, dialect and landscape.
The interactive displays cost 拢2.5 million and
the attraction hopes to draw 140,000 visitors a year. It features
England's first panoramic film shown on a 180 degree screen.
