On Friday 27 June 2003, 大象传媒 Radio Norfolk turned
out the lights in Norfolk Tower for the last time. After
more than 20 years at its Surrey Street base, the radio station
broadcast its final programme from the tower.
At 6am on Saturday 28 June, Stewart White presented
the first show from the 大象传媒's new multi-million pound broadcast
centre at The Forum and opend a new chapter in Radio Norfolk's history.
"I can't think of a better place to be,"
said station editor David Clayton. "We will be broadcasting
from the new heart of the city."
For the first time, Radio Norfolk, Look East and
the 大象传媒's online services in Norfolk come together under one roof.
"We had to move for a number of reasons and
for a while the 大象传媒 had been looking for somewhere to build headquarters
for all of our local services," explained Mr Clayton.
Visitors to The Forum will be able to see the teams
who produce the radio, television and online output through the
huge glass windows which overlook the open atrium which you can
see in the panorama above.
