Title - Extra Norfolk

Radio artist sketches ´óÏó´«Ã½ competition

Radio Artist, Frank Halliday's beach scene.

When the Social Action Unit at ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Norfolk first came up with the idea of "Art on the Radio", there were a few disbelieving faces around the station, but after more than 1,800 phone calls requesting beginners art packs, the reality of art on the radio soon set in!

With the help of Frank Halliday - the "radio artist" those beginners were talked through the basics of watercolour painting, from which colours to use, to how to create the perfect Norfolk sky.

Now we’re asking you to pick up your brush again to tackle another of Frank’s sketches.

Beach scene
This time around, he has chosen a special Norfolk beach scene, with fishing boats, lobster creels and plenty of sea and sand.

Picture: Example of finished watercolour.

Simply transfer Frank’s sketch onto a piece of watercolour paper and then just use your imagination!

You can pick the season – spring, summer, autumn or winter – and you can add people, birds or other features to bring the picture to life.

Encouraging art
Action Desk Manager, Pauline McLaren: "It doesn’t matter if you don’t think much of your painting skills, we want you to enjoy having a go and we’d love to see your efforts displayed at this year’s Norfolk Show."

Win a prize
Bring your finished painting along to the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Norfolk stand at the Norfolk Show, on June 26th & 27th and hand it into one of the Action Desk volunteers to be in with the chance of winning a prize.

If you can’t make it to the show, please post your painting to: The Action Desk, ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Norfolk, Norfolk Tower, Surrey Street, Norwich, NR1 3PA.

The entries will be judged live on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Norfolk on Friday, July 5 at 10.10am.

You can print out the beach sketch by clicking here.
