Poetry

Stephen has been working as an illustrator, writer and storyteller for many years now. Read one of his favourite self penned poems - The Gate in the Field

Stephen wrote...

After coming back from the Gothenburg Irish Festival I started producing poetry titled Dam Bursting. These were fourteen poems produced rapidly in a matter of weeks.
In 1998 I was asked back to deliver an illustrated lecture at three events in the festival in Sweden called The Book of Yerdagh discussing my own sense of Irish identity.

Other stories, poems and songs followed. Over the eleven years since 1997 my work has dramatically changed. I have done quite a few school visits and story telling sessions with a broad range of people. I have also done some sessions in Bologna and Canada on a Native American reserve called Sioux Valley…

Comment on Stephen's story

Name: Jean and Stewart McCullough
Date: 23/04/2008
Comment: Enjoyed listing to DLT and reading Stephen's poem. Brought back happy memories of the Irish Festival in Gothenburg and our late son Jonathan who was the founder of this event and had his own unique talent for encouraging people and making friends.
