Through fields they fly all lost and worn
The weight of the world on their tired shoulders lies
A prayer a wish a dream made to come true
All claim a little piece of love until there is no more
听
So they soar in search of food and light
Through limpid lakes and mossy banks
Distressed by hate they bleed
Forever to search for peace and calm that can never be
听
In politics they play
Only to be ignored and shunned
Though they try through mind and instinct and glimpses of hope
Never shall they be heard by man
听
So they search in woods
Through leaves and green
Two thousand years of grief they bear
But mother earth she knows
听
Her oaken arms pull them to her breast
And dew drops fall as tears upon their gentle wings
To sooth and heal their gossamer cape
Until they awaken once again and take flight
