COST OF ELECTRICITY - NIE STATEMENT
听
NIE say that their keypads give a discount - and that they will extend the switchoff if you run out of credit.
听
NIE Statement in full: "Pay-as-you-go Keypad meters offer 2.5% discount off the standard rate and are a very popular way of paying for electricity. They are installed free of charge and over 200,000 households now have one, which is one in four homes. One feature of Keypad meters is 'Friendly Credit'. If the pre-paid credit runs out after 4pm, Friendly Credit will keep the power on until 8am the next morning in winter (9am in summer). This is to avoid the inconvenience of the power going off when the shops are closed or during the hours of darkness. In addition if the credit runs out after 4pm on Friday the power will stay on all weekend until 8am on Monday morning. If customers prefer they can have this Friendly Credit extended so that the power stays on until 11am in winter. Simply call the NIE Energy Customer Helpline at 08457 455 455. Customers will be given a special code to key into the meter so that the Friendly Credit will never run out at 8am again - it will always stay on until 11am. Customers can now buy top-ups 24 hours a day from the NIE Website or by calling our Customer Helpline."
