Marli
(short for Marilena) is 27 years old and single. She shares a four-bedroom
house in London with her brother and two girlfriends but was brought
up in Lytham St Anne's on the Lancashire coast.
She
currently works as a nursing assistant at Florence Nightingale hospital
for eating disorders.
She
counsels very sick people, and is often their last emotional rock
after everything else has fallen away. She claims to be a very good
friend and an amazing listener.
Marli
has a history of having brushes with fame. She was briefly signed
to Island Records and then opted to follow Chris Blackwell in his
new venture, Palm Pictures Records.
After
a mini bidding war between Sony and Palm Pictures, Marli was left
without a deal before signing to V2 for 6 months - but when the
person who had signed her was sacked, Marli was dropped from V2.
She
plays the piano (qualified as a piano teacher), violin, clarinet
and guitar.
She
describes her musical tastes as melodic, simple, catchy tunes, anything
that provokes a memory or feeling.
The
three artists that most influenced her are Michael Jackson, Nik
Kershaw and Kate Bush. Her musical idol is Madonna.
Her ambitions are: to make an album with influences from all over
the world; to be a successful songwriter; to design her own clothes;
and to be a spokesperson in helping to prevent bullying.
Her
party trick is wrapping her ankles around her neck whilst fire-breathing.
